For the next few weeks, fast-casual franchise Slim Chickens is launching a chicken sandwich in the brand’s top test markets. The new sandwich is offered in a variety of unique flavors- cayenne ranch, Cajun chicken and buffalo chicken. “They are getting consumers to validate the quality of the product,” said Technomic President Darren Tristano. “It’s what successful brands do but not what everybody does.” Based on customer feedback, Slim’s has already made alterations to one of the sandwiches but all-in-all, response has been overwhelmingly positive. “We want people to come to us when they want chicken,” said Slim Chickens’ Chief Operating Officer Sam Rothschild. Slim Chickens currently has 35 restaurants and is expected to reach 50 before the end of the year, mimicking the growth of the fast-casual segment.
