Slim Chickens Continues Expanding in Lone Star State, Brings Better Chicken to Tyler

Fast-Casual Franchise Brand Continues Growing Thanks to Multi-Unit Deals and Consumer Demand

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Slim Chickens, a leader in the “better chicken” segment of fast-casual restaurants, will be bringing its fresh chicken and unrivaled flavor to Tyler, Texas – the brand’s third location in the Lone Star State. Restaurant development is spearheaded by multi-unit franchisee Greg McKay. The restaurant, located at 7925 S. Broadway Ste. 100 will open to the public on March 30 and is the second of four locations in a multi-unit deal.

“The Texas food scene is unmistakably popular and continues to thrive; opening another Slim Chickens location here is an excellent opportunity for us as a brand, and we’re honored to have Greg as a valued member of our team and look forward to supporting him as he continues to expand the brand in Texas,” said Sam Rothschild, COO of Slim Chickens. “We have pledged to offer our guests nothing short of the best ingredients and outstanding service, which together, will provide an unmatched dining experience to the community.”

After visiting his oldest daughter, Brooke, at the University of Arkansas and making a trip to “Slims,” McKay realized there was nothing like the concept of fast casual being completely fresh and not frozen in his local community. In 2007, McKay took the appropriate steps to begin his transition of careers from custom home building to become the first Slim Chickens franchisee. McKay’s experience in the industry, coupled with his deep knowledge of the area, make him the perfect candidate to bring the Slim Chickens experience to Tyler’s growing restaurant scene.

“I had full confidence in the Slim Chickens brand when signing on to become the first franchisee, and I’m thrilled to bring another location to the state in such a short amount of time,” said McKay. “I grew up around northeast Texas, so I look forward to sharing the exceptional Slims experience with my neighbors in Tyler and becoming part of the community.”

Focusing on fresh chicken, the brand has developed a niche in its sector of the restaurant industry for product quality that can’t be found anywhere else. With fresh ingredients and minimal freezer space in every restaurant, Slim Chickens honors a commitment to homemade recipes and strong supplier partnerships, ensuring guests can feel good about the food they eat. The down-home Southern brand offers diners hand-breaded or grilled chicken tenders paired with a choice of eight handmade dipping sauces or seven handmade wing sauces for exceptional flavor that has earned admiration from both customers and critics. If guests want to switch it up, Slim Chickens also offers fresh salads, wraps, and chicken and waffles. To offset the savory side of the menu, rotating dessert flavors served in Mason jars are available.

The 2,922-square-foot store is the prototype being used for aggressive national expansion and is one of 15 new restaurants slated to open in the next 12 months across the country. The brand has seen great success in the last several years, expanding from Arkansas into Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and now Nebraska, and emerging as a national player to establish fast-casual dining’s “better chicken” segment.
